The team at QPG Sports Club CIC would like to pay our continued respects and condolences to the family and friends of Ms Yasmin Chkaifi in the month of her anniversary where she was tragically murdered on the school run nearly two years ago.
The death of Yasmin Chkaifi remains absolutely devastating, and has shocked the community.
Her life was taken despite seeking support from the Metropolitan Police after reportedly being harassed and intimidated by her violent ex-partner, and after an anti-stalking order was allegedly in place.
We, along with our neighbours and Women’s Aid stand in solidarity with victims from Black and marginalised communities. Women from marginalised communities always deserve to be heard.
It is a matter of urgency that the police and government review the way they respond to domestic abuse and, further to that, how they respond to victims from marginalised communities.
Perhaps then, and only then, will we see a world in which women, including our mothers and sisters, like Yasmin, and countless others, would have survived.
