COMMUNITY CLIMATE ACTION COORDINATOR

Background to Role:
The North Paddington area has many challenges including high levels of health inequalities, overcrowding, low incomes, unemployment, youth violence; and high levels of mistrust of statutory services. The area also has many strengths including large areas of well-established green and blue infrastructure including Westbourne Green, Meanwhile Gardens and Queens Park Gardens in addition to smaller green squares and the Grand Union canal. There is a strong sense of community and a strong network of local organisations already working to tackle health inequalities through engaging residents with green spaces and tackling climate change. Based in Paddington Development Trust, the new Community Climate Action Coordinator is funded by the North Paddington Programme and will support the community to strengthen existing green projects including Green Westbourne, as well as identify and develop new neighbourhood projects, with an overall aim of increasing community engagement with green spaces, nature, and the outdoors. The postholder will also work closely with the Westminster Council Climate Emergency team to link activities into wider borough initiatives. The Mayor of London’s Future Neighbourhoods Strategy will be one of the guiding approaches, which provides the opportunity to implement our net-zero ambitions by adopting an area-based, community-partnership approach.
Required and Desired Skills:
To identify, support and foster key residents to take a leadership role in climate change activities in North Paddington going forward. • Attend fortnightly Climate Project Board meetings to share progress, lessons learnt and risks and issues. • Provide quantitative and qualitative content for monthly highlight reports. The Head of Operations will be responsible for leading and managing the Operations department in delivering the first-class services which are essential for the safe and effective operation of Loftus Road stadium, and the Club’s state of the art training ground facility. The role will form part of the Senior Management team at QPR, reporting directly to the CEO and having a significant impact on all areas of Club operations. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Management of several key departments across the Operations department, including Operations, Safety & Security, Matchday Operations, Facilities & Stadium Management, Training Ground Operations, Grounds Maintenance, IT, and Project Management. Covering 16 full-time and part-time staff, in addition to responsibility for 200+ casual matchday staff
• Responsibility for health and safety across both sites and ensuring all legal and statutory compliance requirements are met. Key elements are contingency planning, robust infrastructure, appropriate technology, and cost-effective delivery. • Maintain financial control of Operational expenditure (approx. £4 million OPEX) and liaise with the Finance Director in setting annual budgets and key financial strategies. • Working with the Commercial department in hosting events at the stadium and training ground, and securing key non-matchday revenue through hiring of facilities • Lead on the development of an environmental strategy and driving sustainability procedures across the Club.
