‘DIY: Live the history of housing justice’
November 11 2023 - February 11 2024
‘DIY: Live the history of housing justice’ is a free program for young people 13-25 years-old, 12-5pm on Saturdays - November this year until next February - with SPID Theatre (as seen on TV and in the National press)! With the guidance of award winning artists, young people will devise, write and act in a theatre show that tours estates, museums and theatres. Through a series of workshops, they will explore how the post war housing crisis led to eviction and demolition protests, inspiring movements to challenge the modern managed decline of social housing estates - culminating in the creation of an immersive performance based on their learnings. Young people will have their expenses paid and work accredited as they dramatise West London’s fight for shelter and communal space that is safe, fit for purpose and not for profit!
